Universities & Organisations
Organisation and programme supervisors
The two kinds of supervisor, and which one a placement supervisor should be.
Thothly has two ways to be someone’s supervisor. For placements, use programme supervisors. Use organisation supervisors for university staff who oversee many students.
| Organisation supervisor | Programme supervisor | |
|---|---|---|
| Added by | An organisation admin, to the whole organisation | The student, to one programme, as principal or secondary |
| Uses a paid seat | Yes | No, it’s free |
| Sees | Students linked to them, or who chose “All supervisors” | That one programme |
| Signs off entries | Only if the student turns on “Allow supervisors to approve/decline entries” (off by default) | Yes |
| Co-signs reports | No | Yes |
| Shown in the Supervision view | No | Yes, with invite status |
| Accepts programme link requests | Yes | No |
Board-approved supervisors
Joining an organisation as a supervisor doesn’t mark someone as Psychology Board-approved. They tick that themselves when they accept the invite, or later on their profile.
Can one person be both?
Yes. A staff member can be an organisation supervisor and also be added to a student’s programme as its principal supervisor. The programme role is what lets them co-sign that student’s reports.
